In answer to your question, I don't know if hot people have an advantage in writing.
But for me personally, I did discover that kicking it up in middle-age by pushing myself physically (via exercise challenges) gave me a big shot of confidence in my writing and daily life—not just because of the way I looked, but because of how the benefits of exercise made me FEEL.
I guess humans are naturally attracted to attractive people, but we do need to look beyond the cover. Attractive or not, I agree staying power and talent is the way to stay in the writing game.
Looks fade away eventually as we age, especially as we approach our 70s+, but by that time, I should have a massive collection of experiences that I can draw from and write about, and I won't give a f*ck about "hotness." Wrinkles (and me repeating the same old stories to my grandkids) will be my superpower.
