You bring up valid points. Our instructors did warn us that it would depend on the particular situation and that every situation would be different.
It was just an "intro" to personal safety, and the bigger focal points were on awareness, trusting your gut, and prevention.
You're correct in that depending on the way one is attacked, different strategies would need to be used.
If I was pinned down, and couldn't get out of the hold, and didn't "fight back," what would you recommend me to do?
Would I just stay still and take his punches and hits until he got exhausted?
