Summertime Rain Dare
Six Word Photo Story Summer Challenge (August)
Summer rainstorm — goggles and a swim.
The weather forecast predicted rain. I slipped on my swimsuit underneath my shorts, just in case — the summer weather could change — it’s unpredictable where I live. I drove out to a swimming hole I recently discovered, parked, and sat in the car for a few minutes.
Still raining. Nope — pouring.
I stepped out of the car wearing flip-flops, a baseball cap, and a backpack and headed down the trail. Walkers were huddled beneath umbrellas, hikers were wearing full rain gear — and then there was me. I passed a man walking two dogs who raised his eyebrows when he saw my attire.
I arrived at the secluded swimming hole — drenched. The raindrops danced off the water and it was quiet and nobody was there. I set down my backpack, peeled off my t-shirt, shorts, and kicked off my flip-flops — and stepped into the creek — and I swam.
I dunked my goggled head underneath, watched the fish float around my body, popped my head up for air, and looked at the forest, rocks, and waterfall.
