As an editor my own publication, I typically suggest self publishing if the story doesn’t meet with our style or guidelines. That way, it gives writers full control of their stories. Not everyone can follow guidelines (which is frustrating for editors) when we see messy submissions come in. Even I will self-publish my own stories if I don’t want to follow the guidelines in my own publication!
