A few days after my story, “Quitting My Love Affair with Sugar” was published and boosted in Human Parts, I was curious to see if I could find where else Medium shared my story. I googled the title and was surprised to find a YouTube video of my story with the same Unsplash image photo I used for my article.

I was delighted to see my story on YouTube with images and music in the background, along with the voice of the narrator of my story — as the subtitles flashed on the screen.

Wow, is Medium featuring my story on YouTube?

I assumed Medium had a staff member with a YouTube channel, and it was one of the methods they used to circulate boosted stories. Nope. When I reached out to Jay Ludlow Martin, editor of Human Parts, Jay told me it was NOT anyone who works for Medium.

The YouTuber goes by “medium story” and has a cartoon image of a sexy Asian girl with big breasts as their avatar. For a moment, I felt a stab of envy because I wished my boobs were that big, but then I remembered I had no idea what this person actually looked like.
